| The Terraplane name dates back to 1932. The new Essex Terraplane's were introduced in a fanfare of publicity at a grand gathering in Detroit. This new range was intended to compete directly with Ford and Chevrolet as a lower priced, smaller alternative to the larger Hudson models. |
